Tour of Yakezie Personal Finance Blogs
During the first week of June, I completed a world tour of many of the best personal finance blogs on the internet. I read posts and made comments on 118 of the Yakezie member and challenger blogs within a two and one-half day period.
It was an intense, interesting and worthwhile exercise (which left me cross-eyed from doing so much reading!).
While touring, I made some observations about the sites. Today’s post here at Family Money Values will share some of those observations.
Yakezie Explained
Yakezie is the web’s largest personal finance and lifestyle blogs network with over 60 members. Each member goes through a challenge to achieve membership.
At any given time there are twenty or more challengers trying their best to improve their blog, network with each other and the Yakezie members, help each other out and improve the quality of your reading on personal finance.

The Yakezie challenge is to join the group by posting multiple times a week and getting Alexa rank down to 200,000.

Crystal over at Budgeting In the Fun Stuff encouraged me to join the Yakezie Challenge several weeks back. Since then, I have been following the growth of this remarkable group of enterprising and energetic personal finance and lifestyle bloggers with great interest and have finally worked up the courage to take the challenge.
If you don’t know, the challenge is to get to an Alexa rank of 200,000 or less in 6 months and to actively participate in the group, promoting and helping the other members. Read all about it over at the Financial Samurai’s post where it all started.
Alexa – as you probably know – is an Amazon owned site which measures the reach, traffic and rankings of web sites visited by browsers with the Alexa tool bar installed.
I have a long way to go as this blog’s current Alexa rank is over a million! 1,098,976 today to be exact. Over at FamilyMoneyValues.com – our static site, we have a rank today of 522,566.
So, my goals for the next 6 months will include getting both our blog and our site past the 200,000 rank!
